WHAT IS THE PURPOSE?
To provide an opportunity to work or rework the first three Steps of Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA) in a supportive group setting. This workshop is designed to deepen your experience of the recovery process whether you are a newcomer or seasoned member of EDA. We hope to inspire confidence and encourage members to consider becoming sponsors.
WHAT IF I AM ALREADY A SPONSOR?
This is an opportunity to have a fresh experience and to be of service to the newer EDA members in attendance.
WHAT’S INVOLVED?
Working the Steps together following much of the guidance found in Chapter 7 of the EDA Big Book. The workshop includes presentation of the Steps, writing, reading, small-group sharing, time for questions and answers, and weekly assignments. As the workshop is highly interactive, all who register are requested to participate with their cameras on. No images, videos or audios of participants will be recorded.
WHAT’S THE TIME COMMITTMENT?
In addition to the 90-minute workshop on Saturdays, participants will be assigned activities to complete before the next session. The time required for this work will be approximately two additional hours per week. If you do not have this time available during the four weeks of the workshop, please do not register.
WHAT’S THE COST?
While not required, a donation of $12 to EDA is encouraged via the support tab on the EDA website. Select the third option to contribute on behalf of an EDA workshop.
WHEN ARE THE OTHER WORKSHOPS?
Workshop 2 covering Steps 10 and 11 begins February 10, Workshop 3 covering Steps 4 and 5 begins March 16 and Workshop 4 covering Steps 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 begins April 20. Registration will be available on the EDA website starting two weeks prior to each workshop.
If you are new to EDA, please attend several EDA meetings prior to starting the workshop, as the workshop assumes a basic level of EDA knowledge. You may also find it helpful to explore the EDA website, as it contains a wealth of information. Recordings of two previous workshops appear on the website under the literature tab.
