… when I focus on humble service to the greater good, my defects based on selfish desires get very little play. It is not that I do not have deficiencies; it is that I do not have to exercise them. And when I do not exercise them, I am free: it is as if they are removed, at least for a while. I find that the longer I can live without my defects, the more unappealing they are, and the more grateful I am that they are gone.
