Harassment Is Never Welcome

Dear EDA fellows,

I can’t make this any more clear: harassment is not welcome in EDA.

Some situations can be resolved by setting a clear and firm boundary with an individual directly. Other situations may require further action. In such cases, meeting chairs, hosts, and the person experiencing harassment have full authority to take a number of actions to address the situation:
  1. If harassment occurs via zoom chat: notify the Zoom host and chair. The Zoom host should then announce that the chat feature is being disabled due to harassment, and that if harassment continues it will result in removal of the individual from the meeting.
  2. If harassment occurs verbally before, during, or after a meeting, the Zoom host or after-meeting chair should follow the protocol described in the Intentional Disruption section beginning on page 3 of our Zoom Meeting Security document.
  3. If harassment continues despite these efforts, please contact the GSB for additional support or guidance.

Zoom meeting chairs, hosts, and co-hosts are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Zoom Meeting Security document.

Everybody is welcome in this fellowship, but harassment is not.

Thank you,
Michael S.
Chair of the EDA General Service Board (GSB)

EATING DISORDERS ANONYMOUS (EDA)

EDA is a Twelve-Step fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover from their eating disorders. People can and do fully recover from having an eating disorder. The only requirement for membership is a desire to recover from an eating disorder.
