GSB Meeting Literature Motions

The EDA Literature Committee submitted motions to approve three documents and post drafts of two other documents for EDA member feedback at the January 4, 2026, GSB Meeting. At that time, the motions below were approved:
Two motions to ADOPT the following literature as GSB-approved:
    • This work has been developed over the last four years, with comments and suggestions incorporated from multiple rounds of review this year including three months’ of open review sessions between July and October 2025 and four months of back and forth with the EDA Literature Committee and our publisher since GSB approved moving forward with publishing in July 2025.
    • This text represents many years’ work on the part of dozens of committed EDA members and is being submitted for EDA members’ and the General Service Board’s up or down vote on approval.
    • Service is a vital and essential component of recovery in all Twelve Step fellowships.
    • Our Chair, Michael S, has proposed the addition of a Service Minute to the Suggested EDA Meeting Format, together with an accompanying Service Minute Topics document.
    • The Suggested EDA Meeting Format incorporates several additional changes to improve flow and reduce redundancy.
    • We are asking for a vote on whether to formally accept the new version of the Suggested EDA Meeting Format.
Two motions to POST DRAFT DOCUMENTS for REVIEW and COMMENTS 
  • DRAFT: EDA Step Workbook: A Companion to the EDA Big Book
    • The text has been piloted with multiple sets of EDA workshop participants and has been through multiple rounds of review.
    • The text has not yet completed final rounds of review within the EDA Literature Team, but is expected to be sent out in March for GSB approval in April.
    • We would like our fellowship to have a period to review and comment on this material before the April 2026 vote.
    • This work was proposed last year, and a subcommittee has been actively working on it for months.
    • This draft is intended to elicit feedback and encourage participation from all EDA members.
    • Additional stories will be included and existing stories have not completed the vetting process–they are not in their final form.
    • We hope to expand on this document over the coming year and hope to present it in late 2026 or 2027 for approval.

EATING DISORDERS ANONYMOUS (EDA)

EDA is a Twelve-Step fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problems and help others to recover from their eating disorders. People can and do fully recover from having an eating disorder. The only requirement for membership is a desire to recover from an eating disorder.
